Where do I return my books?

How do I find an article on EBSCOhost?

1. Go to the Library Catalog & Online Resources page

2. Click EBSCOhost Academic Databases under Links.

 

 

 

 

 

 

3. If you know the exact name of the database you'd like to search, scroll down or type Ctrl + F and type the database name in the box. Click the check box next to the database name. Otherwise, click the check box next to Select All at the top.

 

 

 

 

 

 

4. Click Continue.

5. Type in your topic in the boxes at the top of the page. Click the Search button.

 

 

 

 

 

 

5. On the left side of the screen, you can refine your results.

Can I print at the library?

Yes. There are two printers on the main level of the library. A color printer is at the Circulation Desk and can be used to print materials for class.

How do I find a book?

How do I request an interlibrary loan on EBSCOhost?

1. If you need help getting to EBSCOhost, click here.

2. For items we have access to, there will be HTML or PDF Full Text links below the search result. For items we don't have access to, there is a Request via Interlibrary Loan link. Click the link. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3. Fill in your information and click Submit.

4. It typically takes 1-5 business days to receive pdfs via ILL. Allow as much time as you can.

Creating an account in EBSCOhost and saving articles to your Folder

If you are searching for articles in EBSCOhost, you might want to create an EBSCOhost account so that you can track your research. To do this:

1. Click  on the upper bar.

2. Select "Create one now" to create an account.

3. Once you have an account, you can select the folder icon () for a given article to add it to your research folder.

4. You can view all articles in your folder by clicking the  link on the upper bar. This list can be printed, emailed, saved as a file, or exported.

Does the library have a copier/scanner/fax machine I can use?

There is a copy machine on the main level of the library. In order to use this machine, you must scan your student ID card.

There are two scanners that are free to use. One is on the main level directly outside of the Writing Center and the other is at the Circulation Desk.

Mohler Hall has a fax machine.

How do I request an interlibrary loan in WorldCat Discovery?

1. Go to the Library Catalog & Online Resources page.

2. Under Links, click WorldCat Discovery.

3. Search by subject, title, or author. Click on a relevant item.

4. Under Check Availability, click Request Item through Interlibrary Loan. Please note that this option will only be available if 1) it's a physical item (i.e., book, dvd, etc.), and 2) if Miller Library does not own a copy.

5. Fill in the required fields and click Submit at the bottom.

6. It typically takes 1-2 weeks to receive ILL materials. Allow as much time as you can.

How do I find Ebooks?

1. Go to the Library Catalog & Online Resources page

2. Click Proquest Ebook Central.

 

 

 

 

 

 

3. Enter the title or subject of the book in the box at the top of the page and click Search.

4. Click on the title of your desired book.

  • If it is Available, you can Read Online. Some titles also allow you to download some or all of the book.
  • If it is Available on request, you can click on the Request link to ask that the library purchase a copy.

What are Reserve books?

Reserve books are materials professors are using in their classes that they have made available for student checkout.

The Reserve shelf is located behind the Circulation Desk. When the Circulation Desk is staffed, you can check out Reserve materials to use for 2 hours in the library.

Due to COVID-19, our Circulation Desk has limited hours. If you need access to Reserve materials outside of our hours, send us an email at libary@mcpherson.edu with the book and chapters you need, and we'll send you scanned copies within one business day.

How long can I check out items for?

Books and DVDs check out for 3 weeks. Periodicals check out for 3 days. Reserves/Automotive Restoration items/Brethren Archives materials check out for 2 hours for in-library use only.

What if I can't find a book or article I need?

We can borrow books and journal articles from other libraries. On the library's web page, click Interlibrary Loan Request, fill out the relevant information, and click Submit Request.

 

 

 

 

 

 

It typically takes 1-2 weeks to receive print books and 1-5 days to receive pdfs of journal articles. Allow as much time as you can.

Print books can also be requested directly through WorldCat Discovery.

Journal articles can also be requested directly through EBSCOhost.
